Osteoarthritis affects a common type of joint disease that typically occurs in older adults. It results in the wear and tear of cartilage, the soft tissue that protects the ends of bones in a joint. Several causes can contribute osteoarthritis, including genetics, osteoarthritis hand age, high body mass index and past trauma. Symptoms change from
